Barry Wilson

Barry Wilson - Funeral Director/Owner

Barry is a life-long resident of the Collinsville and Maryville, Illinois area, and the son of Conley and LaVerne (nee Finn) Wilson of Collinsville.  He is a 1980 graduate of Collinsville High School and attended both North Junior High and Maryville West Elementary schools.  He was first baseman and pitcher of the 1980 Collinsville Kahok Baseball State Championship team, and also played basketball for the Collinsville Kahoks 1978, 1979, and 1980.  He graduated in 1983 from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with an associate degree in Mortuary Science.  Mr. Wilson has 28 years experience in the Collinsville area as a funeral director.  He has Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses in both Illinois and Missouri, and is also licensed as a Life Insurance Producer in Illinois.  Mr. Wilson has been a Reserve Madison County Deputy Coroner since 1990

Barry has been married for 28 years to his wife, Janice, who is also a life-long resident of Collinsville.  Janice is employed by Miss Bailey’s Poppy Patch home interior/specialty gift store in Glen Carbon and teaches yoga at the CMT - YMCA.  They have two daughters – Chelsea who graduated from Saint Louis University with honors pursuing a career as a physician’s assistant and Abbey a junior at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville majoring in criminal justice, Chelsea and Abbey both graduated from Collinsville High School with honors.  Barry’s hobbies include spending time with his family, golf and being with friends.

Janice Wilson

Janice Wilson - Owner

Janice is a life-long resident of Collinsville (and Maryville) and the daughter of the late Robert and Marilyn (nee Nicol) Marks. She is a life-long member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville.  She attended parochial school at Holy Cross Lutheran in Collinsville then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude at Collinsville High School.  While attending Collinsville High School she was a Kahok cheerleader being the team Captain her senior year and placing first in state.  She attended and received a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She married Barry Wilson in September of 1984.  She is a retired pre-school teacher having worked 20 years at St. John Learning Tree Pre-School in Collinsville. While there she was head of the three year old program her last thirteen years having made relationships with young families in the Collinsville, Maryville and Caseyville areas and surrounding communities.  She is currently a sales associate/decorator for Miss Bailey’s Poppy Patch in Glen Carbon, IL. She also enjoys being a Yoga instructor for the CMT YMCA three days a week. She is a proud mother of two girls Chelsea and Abbey Wilson and her hobbies include spending time with family and friends.

Chelsea Wilson

Chelsea Wilson

Chelsea is a life-long resident of Collinsville and Maryville.  She attended school at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Collinsville where she graduated Valedictorian of her class. She went on to attend Collinsville High School where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was a Kahok volleyball player all four years, a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Executive Board, and an Illinois State Scholar.  She attended her first two years of college at the University of Georgia. After deciding to transfer to Saint Louis University, she was awarded the Jesuit Transfer Scholarship. At SLU, she was a member of the Saint Louis University Dietetic Association.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from SLU in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics.  She currently is attending the Physician Assistant graduate program at SLU.  Chelsea is a life-long member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville, and she enjoys cooking, shopping, and ballet.

Abbey Wilson

Abbey Wilson

Abbey is a life-long resident of Collinsville and Maryville.  She attended parochial school at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Collinsville, finished her eighth grade year at the Collinsville Middle School, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Collinsville High School.  Abbey has enjoyed athletics being a member of the Lady Hawks Basketball Team, and also played basketball her high school freshman year.  She has been an avid soccer player since she was five spending seven years with the Lou Fusz Soccer Club before moving on to St. Louis Scott Gallagher Club her final two years.  She was a four year varsity player and three year starter for the Lady Kahoks Soccer Team.  She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and an Illinois State Scholar.  Upon graduating from Collinsville High School she attends Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where her major is Pre-Law.  Her hobbies include soccer, playing the piano, shopping and being with friends. 

Jeanine Zamarione - Administrative Assistant 

Jeanine has been a resident of the Collinsville/Maryville area for 19 years.  She was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri.  In 1993 she married her husband, Eric, who was a 1979 graduate of Collinsville High School, and they have two children – Lauren and Dominic.  Jeanine joined the Barry Wilson Funeral Home Staff from its inception.  As well as working part-time for the funeral home, she is a teacher at the Learning Tree Preschool in Collinsville, and also has a home based transcription business.  She enjoys attending her children’s sporting events, gardening, listening to music and shopping with her daughter.  The Zamarione’s are members of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon.

 

 

Ron Frey - Funeral Assistant

Ron grew up in the Highland area and is now a resident of Glen Carbon and is a life-long resident of the local Illinois area.  He is a graduate of Highland High School and went on to attend college at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  First receiving an Associate’s Degree in Electronics and then continuing on to receive a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.  He is currently employed as a Manager and works for an Engineering Firm in St Louis.  Ron has been married for 27 years to his wife, Joan, who is also a life-long resident of the Glen Carbon area.  Joan is owner and proprietor of her own business, Miss Bailey’s Poppy Patch home interior/specialty gift store located at Miner’s Square, in Glen Carbon.  They have two children – Kara who graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and Zach who currently is attending the University of Illinois.  Ron enjoys all sports and being with family and friends.  

 

 

Marty Hoffman - Funeral Assistant

Marty grew up in Granite City and now lives in Collinsville. He is a graduate of Granite City South High School. He is currently employed by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church as Parish Administrator. Marty has been married for 24 years to his wife Pam, who is a life long resident of Collinsville. Pam is employed by Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon. They have 3 children-Christian, Simon and Emily. The Hoffman’s are members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville.  Marty enjoys spending time with family and friends.

 

Andrea Barrows - Funeral Service Intern

Andrea has been a resident of Collinsville for 19 years, and is the daughter of Robert and Sharon Barrows of Collinsville. She attended grade school at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Collinsville, and high school at Metro-East Lutheran in Edwardsville, IL. Andrea graduated from the Mortuary Science & Funeral Service program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale May 2012. She worked her funeral service internship at Barry Wilson Funeral Home from January through April 2012. Andrea is currently enjoying her job as an apprentice at Hughes Funeral Homes in Herrin and Marion, IL where she will fulfill her 12 month apprenticeship. Andrea is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She previously worked at Bobby’s Frozen Custard of Maryville, IL for 6 years, and is looking forward to returning to the Collinsville & Maryville area. Andrea’s hobbies include spending time with her family, friends, and fiancé Dustin Nadler of Dupo, IL.
