O'Fallon

Obituary

Alfred Kenneth "Kenny" Gaultney, age 83 of O'Fallon, IL, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL, surrounded by his family.

He was born August 1, 1941, in Troy, IL, to the late Walter and Gladys (nee Island ) Gaultney. He honorably served in the United States Army serving two tours in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart.  Kenny was a retired millwright from US Steel. In his retirement, he enjoyed sending time on his farm, keeping a garden, and raising animals. Kenny was a jack of all trades and enjoyed keeping busy piddling with projects and staying active outside. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville where he enjoyed being an usher and helping with apple butter. He was also involved with the VFW Post #5691 in Collinsville. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved to have his grandkids stay the night and make pancakes for breakfast. There were many trips out for ice cream and donuts and Kenny was always ready to grab lunch.

Along with his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by four siblings: Betty Wilke, Walter "Bud" Gaultney, Irene Kohl, and Frieda Sponemann.

Surviving are his two daughters: Kathleen Spillari of Glen Carbon, IL, and Julie (Lenny) Chambers of Collinsville, IL; five grandchildren: Erica (Nick) Koester, Sofia Spillari, Anna Chambers, Audrey Noonan, and Kyle Chambers; three great-grandchildren: Jackson, Lukas, and Lydia; three sisters: Virginia Niebrugge, Frances (Bill) Kohl, and Phyllis (Phil) Weatherspoon, all of Troy, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
