Alice V. Konieczny, age 96 of Troy, IL, formerly of Collinsville, IL, born August 2, 1925 in Madison, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Aspen Creek of Troy.

Alice was a 1943 Madison High School graduate.  She married Zigmund Konieczny on December 2, 1961.  Together they had two children.

Alice worked at several places over her career including the Department of the Army as a statistical clerk, Granite City Engineering Depot, the IRS in Personnel Management, a playground aide at Twin Echo School, and as a breakfast lady at the Drury Inn in Fairview Heights.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, First United Presbyterian Church - Granite City, and a life member of the Collinsville Unit #10 PTA.  She and her husband; Zigmund, volunteered for the Radio Information Service for the Blind (MindsEye) in Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Zigmund; parents, Sandor and Mary ( nee Hegedus ) Vegh; three sisters:  Marie, Julie and Helen; and a half-brother, Joe.

She is survived by her two children:  Michael (Amy) Konieczny of Troy, IL and Suzanne (Chris) Watkins of Heber City, UT; five grandchildren:  Jack (Kyle) Watkins, Anne (Karl) Stahlfeld, Aaron (Julia) Watkins, Alex and Kathryn Konieczny; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 – 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Fr. Stan Konieczny officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.

Memorials may be made in Alice's honor to First United Presbyterian Church – Granite City or Partners for Pets and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home at 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
