Anita Joan
Hischke
Jan 4, 1938 — Jul 18, 2024
Collinsville
Anita Joan (nee Roth) Hischke, born on January 4, 1938 in Kirkwood, MO, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024 in Collinsville, IL.
She served God in many and various ways: As an LMCS pastor's wife she used her artistic abilities and love of God to serve the churches her husband pastored. As a mother she faithfully trained her children to follow God. As a grandmother, aunt, sister, great aunt, etc. she regularly sought to point each one to God and to reflect on the beautiful gifts He gave us.
Anita loved art, music, and the beauty God gave her through His creation. She graduated from Washington University with a degree in art. She maintained multiple flower gardens. She loved giving flowers and postcards with pictures of her flowers and Bible verses to others. She frequently painted on one or more pieces of art at a time. One of her final paintings was a rendition of heaven. Her appreciation for art is evident in her home and in her children's homes, which are filled with beautiful pieces she created through the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. Waldemar, whom she married July 16, 1960; her parents, Charles and Esther (nee Kassel) Roth; her sister, Julie; and brother, Charles Jr.
She leaves behind a loving family: her son, Mark (Rhonda) of Algonquin, IL; daughters, Rachel and Deborah (Tim) of Collinsville, IL; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; one brother, Cecil; and many nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and grand nieces.
"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord …" Revelations 14:13
The family invites all who knew Anita to join in celebrating her life and the beauty she saw in the world.
