Aurea H. Frerker, age 87 of Glen Carbon, IL, born October 17, 1937 in Damiansville, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 in Maryville with all four sons at her side.
Aurea's life was a tapestry of diverse pursuits and deep connections. With an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Belleville Area College, she embraced a multitude of roles throughout her career. She managed the family farm while raising four boys, was a Real Estate Agent, and contributed to various sectors including retail, banking, and the restaurant industry throughout the years. Aurea was also a community volunteer, and found joy and camaraderie as a member of a book club and the Volksmarch Club. Her greatest passion was her family. She cherished moments with her children, grandchildren, siblings, relatives, and close friends, fostering bonds that lasted a lifetime. As a U of I Extension Master Gardener, her love for gardening was evident in the beautiful gardens and nature nooks she created on her own property. She enjoyed needlework, family gatherings, and relished the occasional glass of wine. Aurea's life was a testament to her dedication, love, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Frerker, whom she married May 28,1959; parents, Louis and Honora (nee Horstmann) Heimann; three sisters: Audrey (Ron) Kolar, Norma (Ralph) Ottensmeier and Marlene Carmack; and a brother, Lester Heimann.
Surviving are her four sons: Dean (Michel) Frerker, Duane (Erika) Frerker, Darryl (Carol) Frerker and Andrew Frerker; 10 grandchildren: Nathan, Matthew, Mark, Elena, Keaton, Anna, Brandon, Andrea, Daylan and Bailey; 9 great-grandchildren: Ezra, Finneus, Emily, Alexander, Antonia, Bennet, Hayden, Landon and Addison; a brother, Melvin (Yvonne) Heimann; three sisters: Grace Walker, Donna (John) Goldman and Lois Kalmer; numerous nieces and nephews.
Upon her request, Aurea was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 3 p.m. at St.Damian Church, 1 West Main Street, Damiansville, IL 62215. Interment to follow at St. Damian Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Vitas Hospice, Hospice of Southern Illinois or CACF Willoughby Farm and will be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
