Barbara Ann Alvarez, age 92, of Collinsville, IL, born October 13, 1933 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Parc Provence in Creve Coeur, MO.

Barbara devoted her life to her family as a loving homemaker. She loved gardening, painting, dogs and animals of all kinds, and especially treasured time spent with her family. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Fairmont City, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Kate (Major) Kokotovich; her husband, Joseph Alvarez, whom she married August 25, 1978; and her sisters, Helen (Tim) Mooney, Mary Charney, Elsie Kokotovich, Antoinette Kokotovich.

She is survived by her four children: Mary (Matt) Prsha Migalla, Samuel Prsha, Matthew (Natalie) Prsha, and Katherine Prsha; six grandchildren: Ryan (Andrea) Prsha, Chad (Lanie) Prsha, Scott Prsha, Cory (Megan Hale) Prsha, Jamie Prsha, and Emily Migalla; two sisters: Katherine (Premo) Clay, and Charlotte (John) Sobol; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 08, 2026 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Fairmont City, IL, with Father Harold Fisher, Celebrant.
