Barbara Jean (nee Scott) Zambrano, 85, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.

Born on August 22, 1940, in Vandalia, IL, Barbara was the daughter of the late Donald Scott and Virginia (nee Buck) Pfile.

Barbara loved the Lord and devoted much of her life to growing in her faith, surrounding herself with fellow Christians as she studied and lived according to God's Word. Her faith was the foundation of her life and was reflected in her kindness, compassion, and love for others. She enjoyed traveling, sharing her beautiful singing voice with those around her, and spending treasured time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a sister, Jill Kluck.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Engel of Brattleboro, VT; two granddaughters, Rachel Hermes and her husband, Efrain Castillo, of Kansas City, MO, and Hannah O'Brien and her husband, Cameron O'Brien, of Springfield, IL; a grandson, Michael Engel and his husband, Cameron Fox, of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Linda Potter of Pontoon Beach, IL, and Jackie Cooper and her husband, John Cooper, of Angola, IN. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, including her oldest niece, Tracey Bohnert, with whom she shared a particularly close and cherished bond.

Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her warm and loving spirit, her beautiful voice, and the joy she brought to those who knew her. Her family and friends take comfort in the memories they shared and in the legacy of love and faith she leaves behind.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
