Bernice R. nee Smith Lechner, age 84 of Glen Carbon, IL, born December 12, 1929 in Williamson, IL, passed away at 5:50 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

She was a retired realtor for Landmark Realty in Edwardsville, IL where she was employed for over 20 years. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star, loved to shop and loved her pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Sydney Smith and Louisa nee Etherington Smith; her first husband, Roland Blakesley; a daughter, Susan Prichard; two brothers: Jonathan and William Smith.

She is survived by her husband John Lechner whom she married June 14, 1986, two sons: Stuart Blakesley of Pennsylvania and Michael Blakesley of California; three daughters: Janet (Michael) Fetterolf of Pennsylvania, Beverly (Keith) Burns of Maquoketa, IA, and Gail (Greg) Phelps of Edwardsville, IL; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center, Maryville, IL 62062.

Funeral service will be at 12:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Wright officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Centralia, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Metro East Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
