A Proverbs 31 Woman

Bonnie Mae Metcalf, age 96 of Maryville, IL, born May 9,1928 in East St. Louis, IL, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 in her home.

Bonnie was a member of First Baptist Church Maryville, and a former member of the Lansdowne Baptist Church in East St. Louis where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed reading her Bible, was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, volunteer and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Evans Metcalf, whom she married September 1, 1947; a daughter, Brenda Sue; her parents, William and Stella (nee Veteto) Soden; five siblings, William (Billy), Frances (Tot), Isabelle, Bernard and Annabelle; granddaughter, Sarah Kearney; and daughter-in-law, Kelly Metcalf.

Surviving are her three sons: Terry Metcalf, Jerry (Janice) Metcalf, Bruce (Peggy) Metcalf and daughter, Karen Hiles; eight grandchildren: Kimberly (Scott) Perry, Jonathan (Beth) Metcalf, Stephanie (Nathan) Bergman, Andrew (Danielle) Metcalf, Chad Hiles, Clayton Hiles, Ian Metcalf, Blake Kearney; 20 great-grandchildren:  Logan, Nadia, Nora, Eliza, Bryce, Kylen, Johnny, Barrett, Jacob, James, Suzanne, Joseph, Joshua, Jonah, Kyle, Ryan, Emmett, Ivy, Olivia, Evelin; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at St. Clair Memorial Park 9573-9593 Illinois Rt. 161 West in Fairview Heights, IL with Rev. Jeff Chamberlain officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Copper Creek Christian Church and will be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
