Carl Dale Fortney, age 72 of Collinsville, Il, born June 8, 1944 in Kirksville, MO, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Edwardsville Nursing & Rehab Center in Edwardsville, IL.

Dale was a retired family therapist and teacher. He liked to paint and play bridge. He was baptized at the First United Methodist Church in Kirksville, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Fortney and Virginia nee Davidson Chace; and a brother, David Fortney. He is survived by his stepfather, Charles Chace of Kirksville, MO; two daughters: Cathy Huff of Edwardsville, IL and Becki (Alex) LaZella of Collinsville, IL; a son, William Dale (Chivon) Fortney of Kirksville, MO; 7 grandchildren: Kyle Huff, Michael, Rhiannon, Wendy, Ezio LaZella, Trinity and Chloe Fortney; and a cousin, D. C. Fortney of Chicago, IL.

His wishes were to be cremated, and a burial will be held at a later date in Kirksville, MO.
