O'Fallon

Obituary

Carl (Buddy) Oliver Webster, age 96 of O'Fallon, MO, born July 2, 1926 in New Athens, IL, passed away peacefully Monday, November 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Buddy was the former owner and operator (with his dad) of Webster & Son Shoe Repair in Clayton, MO.  He also operated a shoe repair at Famous & Barr in downtown St. Louis where he met his wife, Alma, who was a gift wrapper.  He honorably served during World War II in the United States Navy from 1945 – 1946.  Buddy loved spending time with family and friends and caring for his beloved dog, Taffy.  He enjoyed NASCAR races, fixing things, photography, boating, and cars.

His love for his wife, Alma, was like no other.  They both enjoyed going to flea markets, auctions and all of their grandchildrens' events.  Buddy could always be found with a camera chronicling it all.  Buddy and Alma could get lost on a one-way street, but they would be smiling and laughing all the way.  His love was so great that he single handedly took care of Alma in her 8 year battle with Alzheimer's.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.  He will be remembered for his love, wit, kindness, patience and being a consummate kidder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl F. and Mildred (nee Kirgin) Webster; his loving wife, Alma (nee Prunty) Webster, whom he married August 6, 1949; and grandson-in-law, Clint Jones.

Surviving are his two children, Terri (Kurt) Mueller of Maryville, IL and Carl J. (Mary) Webster of St. Charles, MO; four grandchildren:  Heather Mueller-Jones (Kevin Pope), Kurt Nathan (Amanda) Mueller, Chad (Tiffany) Mueller and Keith Everett; five great-grandchildren:  Merin Gibson (Matt Campbell), Luke Jones, Maddox Jones, Emelia Mueller and Kurt Brennon Mueller.
