Carlton Edward Carpenter, age 77 of Glen Carbon, IL, born March 19, 1938 in Port Clinton, OH, passed away at 9:22 am on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Carlton was a career Army man and retired as an engineer after 30 years of service. He was loved by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Margaret nee Kelly Carpenter; his wife, Antoneta "Toni" nee Janka Carpenter; whom he married May 11, 1963; and a brother, John "Jack" NeilCarpenter.

He is survived by two sons: Carlton Edward (Kim) Carpenter, Jr. of Germany and David Michael Carpenter ofNew York; five grandchildren: Rebecca, Carlton G. and Alex Carpenter, Joshua Hafenbreidel, and Jaime Halvorson; and two great grandchildren: Evelyn and Abigail Halvorson.

Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will be at 12 noon following the visitation at the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Donahue officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
