Charles "Chuck" C. Morris, age 92 of Collinsville, IL, born July 8, 1932, in Carbondale, IL, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Evercare of Edwardsville, surrounded by his family.
After graduating from Collinsville High School in 1950, he attended the University of Wisconsin and UCLA, before receiving his Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Illinois in 1955.
Chuck had a long and highly successful career after forming Architectural Associates, Inc. (later AAIC, Inc.) in 1963. In completing over 1,000 building projects, some of his most notable designs include Cahokia Mounds Museum, the Illinois Regional Headquarters, Gateway Convention Center, the Granary Nightclub in Edwardsville, and Gaslight Bath & Tennis Club in Collinsville. He was most proud of his firm's position as campus architect for Lewis & Clark Community College for over 20 years, most notably the Jerry F. Costello National Great Rivers Research and Education Center at the Melvin Price Lock & Dam in Alton.
Chuck lived life to the fullest and enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, riding his motorcycle, and painting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lossie E. and Pauline (nee McCaully) Morris; sisters, Jean Bauer and Betty Morris; and brother, Eric Morris.
Surviving Chuck are his wife, Nancy (nee Ribaudo); his children: Calvin (Monica) Morris, Michele Morris, Robin Morris, Tara Morris, and Casey (Dave) Breslin; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Pam Klein; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
Memorials are suggested to the Illinois Center of Autism and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
