Obituary

Charles Raymond Quarenghi, 86, of Brentwood, MO, formerly of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 23, 1939, in Collinsville to the late Raymond and Evelyn (née Lombardi) Quarenghi. Charles earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and went on to serve as a federal agent with the Internal Revenue Service.

Charles had a passion for life and enjoyed boating, travel, home projects and spectator sports. He was an avid follower of St. Louis sport teams, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, particularly coaching and attending his children's sporting events back in their youth, and more recently his grandchildren's high school varsity sporting events. He liked to take on large home improvement projects as well; his family fondly remembers several deck additions he did on his own residences through the years!  And through all this he was a devoted member of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Margaret "Peggy" Quarenghi; and a step-son, Andrew Bayers.

He is survived by his dearest wife, Mari (née Geers) Bayers, whom he married on December 26, 1991; three children, David Quarenghi of Lizella, GA, John Quarenghi of St. Charles, MO, and Pamela (Louis) DiGuiseppe of Brentwood, MO; a step-daughter, Melinda (Dave) Sumner of Festus, MO; two grandchildren, Joseph Paul DiGuiseppe and Macie Margaret DiGuiseppe; and a step-granddaughter, Grace Evelyn Bayers.
