Christopher Sean Acton, age 39 of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital.
He was born August 14, 1984 in Red Bud, IL, to Bennie E. Acton, Jr. and the late Betty L. (nee Gerlach) Acton. He graduated from Sparta High School, Class of 2002, and went on to get his Business Management Degree at Eastern Michigan University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
Chris was employed as a channel sales manager for New Horizon Communications. He was an avid St. Louis Blues and Cardinals fan, and Michigan Wolverines Football. He belonged to a fantasy football club, enjoyed playing the slots at the local casinos, and loved traveling to Las Vegas. His favorite performer was Luke Combs, who he personally met before his concert in St. Louis in 2023.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Acton; a brother, Michael Acton; maternal grandmother, Betty Gerlach; and paternal grandparents, Bennie Sr. and Billie Acton.
Surviving are his father and step-mother, Bennie Jr. and Dora Acton; his significant other of 19 years, Elizabeth Acton; three sisters: Victoria Sillmon, Amber (Monir) Aziz and Sarah Acton; two step-sisters: Elsy (Moises) Godos and Michelle (Jesus) Avila and two step-brothers: Meghel Desech and Cristian Aguilar; special mother figure who helped raise him, Regina Williams; a special cousin, Rev. Karl (Bonnie) Sparks; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; and his two canine companions: Douglas and Bing Bing.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
Private burial will be in College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
Memorials are suggested to Stray Rescue of St. Louis and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
