Christy L. Smith (nee Ruby), age 70 of Collinsville, born July 1, 1952, in West Plains, MO, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at her residence with her family by her side.

Christy was a graduate of Granite City High School. She worked in insurance most of her adult life. Christy enjoyed reading, crafts, and making raggy quilts.  She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Collinsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Juanita L. (nee Langdon) Ruby; and a sister, Linda S. Fuchs.

She is survived by her husband, Sherman J. Smith III, whom she married August 10, 1973; three sons: Shawn (Beth) Smith of Maumelle, AR, Brian (Leah) Smith of Calhan, CO, and Colin (Naomi) Smith of O'Fallon, IL; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathryn (Buzz) Smith of Brighton, IL.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023 and 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023 both at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 195 West Country Lane, Collinsville, IL.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023 at the church with Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating.  Burial will be in Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville, following the service.

Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home in Carmi, IL or The Gideons International and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
