Clay Hubert Wyatt, age 96, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Charter Senior Living in Troy, IL.
He was born on June 10, 1929, in Collinsville, to the late Thomas and Viola (née Adams) Wyatt. Clay graduated from Collinsville High School in 1948 and went on to attend Northwestern College. He honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War.
Clay had worked as a livestock buyer and owner of the former McCormick Travel Agency in Collinsville. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Collinsville, and belonged to the American Legion in Collinsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley J. (née Reed) Wyatt, whom he married on September 22, 1950; five brothers, Homer, Robert, Carl, Earl, and Donald Wyatt; and three sisters, Virginia Hillier, Mildred Baquet, and Doris Fedder.
He is survived by his three daughters, Carla (Gene) Shiver, Paula (Kent) Ward, and Leah (Frank) Gavlick; seven grandchildren, Seth (Cara), Nathan, and Joshua (Katie) Shiver, Caleb (Jill) Ward, Tara (Nate) Mesyn, Cally (Ryan) Siegel, and Kendra (Tyler) Dunn; and 18 great-grandchildren, Mia, Jesse, Bode, Blake, Hadassah, Casimer, Bridger and Beau Shiver, Cole, Reese, and Clay Ward, Breslyn and Boone Mesyn, Aylah, and Ashton Siegel, Austin (Lacie) Gavlick, Aidan Taylor and Harper Dunn. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, April 10, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Collinsville. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, officiated by Rev. Zach Furlong. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Chief Ministry (Christian Hope Indian Eskimo Foundation). Donations will be accepted at the visitation or may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
