Clint Matthew
Jones
Sep 26, 1975 — Jul 3, 2020
Maryville
Clint Matthew Jones, age 44 of Maryville, IL, born September 26, 1975 in Benton, IL, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He is survived by his loving wife, Heather Mueller-Jones, whom he married on November 4, 2006; three children, Merin Gibson, Luke Jones, and Maddox Jones; mother, Beverly (Jim) Eldridge of Benton, IL; father, Lowell (Linda) Jones of Dittmer, MO; a brother, Jonathan (Kelly) Jones of Ottumwa, IA; nieces and nephew, Riley Jones and Ashley Jones of Ottumwa, IA and Kyle Fricker of Chesterfield, MO; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kurt (Terri) Mueller of Maryville, IL; two brothers-in-law, Chad Mueller and Kurt Nathan Mueller (Amanda) both of Maryville, IL; niece and nephew, Emelia Mueller and Kurt Brennon Mueller; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Clint loved to hunt with his trusty dog, Hank. Hank and Clint would spend hours hunting alone or with a group of friends. Clint always gave Hank a double cheeseburger on the way home from a hunt. Hank is grieving with all of us.
Clint was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lewis and Verna Miles and Fred and Marjorie Jones.
Clint first loved his family and then his community. He never knew a stranger. He selflessly gave to others, whether it be by taking food to Kreitner School for kids in need, serving on a committee to better the lives of the residents of the Village of Maryville and Madison County, moving a hospital bed for someone in need, or helping a friend. He wanted to leave a strong foundation for his boys and teach them how to be great men. In that endeavor, he has left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He opened up his home and his heart to Merin's good friends, Charlie and Rylie Prakit.
Clint was quiet, well most of the time. Those close to him knew that his quietness could quickly change to funny stories, somewhat questionable jokes and smiles that lit up his face. Some were afraid of him, as he was a big guy with what he called a resting a**hole face. But in reality he was sweet, kind, giving, loyal, nurturing, and loving.
Clint worked for the Village of Maryville for 17 years. He was elected to the Madison County Board for District 27 in 2016. In addition to his own campaigning, Clint helped in the campaigns of his friends and colleagues. As a County Board member, Clint served as the Chairman of the Facilities Management Committee and Sewer Facilities Committee and served on the Executive, Grants, and Transportation Committees. Clint was the Vice-Chairperson for the Madison County Republican Party, precinct committeeman of Collinsville Township, member and past President of the Maryville Kiwanis, member of the Collinsville Masonic Lodge, member of the Scottish Right, appointed member of the Fire Pension Board, Republican Precinct Committeeman, and Liaison for Cub Scout Pack 4081.
In a final service to his community and in accordance with Clint's wishes, his family consented for tissue donation through Mid-America Transplant in St. Louis, Missouri.
