Connie L. Ruckman, 83, of Maryville, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Ever-True Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, IL.
She was born on October 24, 1942, in Nashville, TN, to the late Tillman and Mary “Honey” (nee Cox) Temple.
Connie married Michael “Mike” L. Ruckman on November 25, 1978. They shared many happy years together until his passing. A proud 1961 graduate of Collinsville High School, Connie devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. She was a past member of Job’s Daughters and the Cushman Club of America.
Connie enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, including Cushman scooters, sewing, baking and decorating cakes, and accompanying Mike on motorcycle rides. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family and loved ones.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Connie was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bobby” Temple.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Kristina) Lawrence of Collinsville, IL, and Kay (Jim) Gibson of Queen Creek, AZ; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Clayton Lawrence and his son Jordan, Tucker Lawrence, Trevor (Heather) Lawrence and their son, Mayson, Lauren (Brandon) Gay and their daughter, Penelope, and Blair Gibson; two brothers, Tillman “Buster” Temple Jr. of St. Jacob, IL, and William Temple of Granite City, IL; two sisters, Marie Reece of Kissimmee, FL, and Angela (Steve) Street of Maryville, IL; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Wright officiating.
Private interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri, beside her beloved husband, Mike.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Donations will be accepted at the visitation or may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
