Obituary

Curtis Swope France, age 91, of Marine, IL, born November 19, 1932 in McCutchanville, IN, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 20, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.

Curtis was retired, having worked over 20 years as a Logistics Specialist for TSAR-COM of the U.S. Government. He also served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Elnora (Swope) France; two sisters and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Ann (Kissel) France, whom he married on April 17, 1959; two daughters, Kay (Rick) Butts of Troy, IL, and Ann (Mark) Stowers of Marine, IL; a son, Ronnie (Dawn) France of Marine, IL; 5 grandchildren: Brian (Brittany) Butts, Paula (David) Rapp, Lisa (Paul) Whittington, Richard (Danielle) Stowers, and Katie (Troy Stuckwisch) France; 4 great-grandchildren: Emilia, Ava, Ethan, and Winston; and a sister, Lois France of Indianapolis, IN.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville, IL, with Rev. Michael Walther officiating.

Private burial with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
