Darrell Wayne Cawvey, age 72 of Collinsville, IL, born October 2, 1951 in Carbondale, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Elmwood Nursing Home in Maryville.

Darrell was a 1969 Collinsville High School graduate.  He honorably served in the the U.S. Army and Navy.  Darrell retired from Granite City Steel after 30 years of service as a locomotive operator.  He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, and enjoyed woodworking and collecting Coca Cola memorabilia.  He was a loving father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elaine (nee Rix) Cawvey; a son, Jason Wayne Cawvey; and his wife, Vicky Lee (nee Thompson) Cawvey.

Surviving are his three daughters, Christi Watson of Collinsville, Rachael Cawvey of Collinsville, and Sarah Cawvey of Godfrey; daughter-in-law, Kelly Cawvey of Collinsville; five grandchildren:  Triston (Courtnie) Cawvey, Brianne (Evan) DeVore, Zachary Cawvey, Brooklyn Watson, and Madison Cawvey; two great-grandchildren:  Sophia and Lainey DeVore; and two brothers:  Bruce (Tracy) Cawvey of Simi Valley, CA and Brian (Laura) Cawvey of Collinsville; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Darrell's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home,2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
