David R. Folmer, age 83, of Collinsville, IL, born March 24, 1937 in Moberly, MO, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS.

David was a 1955 Collinsville High School graduate.  He retired from Emerson Electric as a mechanical engineer and was an Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mae (nee Ogden) Folmer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte (nee Koester) Folmer, whom he married June 17, 1960; two sons:  David (Lara) Folmer of Franklin, TN and Jeffrey (Aimee) Folmer of Edwardsville, IL; five grandchildren:  Justin, Claire, David Jeffrey, Jake, and Blake; a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Marty) Koester Highley; nephew, Max Highley; several cousins; and canine companion, Toby.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in David's honor to the Autism Research Institute at autism.org or the American Diabetes Association.  Checks should be made payable to the organization and mailed to 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
