David Voris Sayre, age 82 of Maryville, IL, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Highland Health Care.

Born December 1, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to the late Voris and Edith (nee Edmed) Sayre.  He attained his masters degree in mathematics, and bachelors degree in science and technology from SIUE.  He retired from Wang Laboratories as a MIS manager.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Sayre.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna (Michael) Rudis of Collinsville, IL; a son, Aaron Deck of Excelsior Springs, MO; a sister, Donna Kurtz of Cupertino, CA; a brother, Allen Davis of New Athens, IL; three granddaughters:  Ashley Storm, Mallory Storm, and Taylor Storm; and great-grandchildren:  Keegan and Reed, along with many nieces and nephews.

David was a brilliant man, and a mentor to many at SIUE assisting his professors and colleagues during which he touched the lives of many students, and coworkers.  With an infectious laughter, and witty humor, he was always around to light up the room.  To know David well, was to know a simple man.  Not wanting or needing anything unnecessarily, living a modest, and uncomplicated life, focusing on simple joys and values.  David was loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.

David's wishes were to be cremated, and services will be announced at a later date to friends and family.
