Delmar Otto Stortzum, age 77 of Troy, IL, born July 2, 1942 in Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Delmar was a retired racehorse trainer.  For the last 20 years he trained thoroughbred horses at Fairmont Park Racetrack in Collinsville, IL.  Prior to that, he trained racehorses out west. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Louisville, IL and enjoyed riding on his small tractor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lorraine (nee Brink) Stortzum.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Donna (nee Wattles) Stortzum, whom he married May 18, 1963; three sons:  Doug (Jan) Stortzum, Devin (Angela) Stortzum and Darin (Susan) Stortzum; eight grandchildren:  Amber, Heather, Kyane, Mariah, Derek, Justin, Dustyn and Cady; five great-grandchildren:  Brecklyn, Blake, Skylar, Avery and Channing; two brothers:  Maurice Stortzum and Monty (Sue) Stortzum; three sisters:  Loretta Stortzum, Cheryl Woods and Denise (Kenny) Hausman; numerous nieces and nephews.

Upon his request, Delmar was cremated and private services will be held at a later date.
