Dennis Lee Luessenheide, age 82 of Maryville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on February 7, 1940 in Johannisburg Township, IL to the late Oscar and Pauline (nee Schuessler) Luessenheide. He graduated from Nashville High School in Nashville, IL. Dennis proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Cold War Era. He retired from AT&T Corporation, the Collinsville office, after 34 years of service as a communication tech.
Dennis was a past leader of Boy Scouts of America, earning Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor and Wood Badge. He was a member of Troy United Methodist Church and former member of Collinsville United Methodist Church where he was very involved including being a past President of the Men's Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Regina (nee Caraway) Luessenheide, whom he married February 9, 1963; a son, Dean (Jessica) Luessenheide of Maryville, IL; two daughters: Janet Luessenheide of Kansas City, MO and Kelly Luessenheide of Maryville, IL; two granddaughters: Payton and Piper Luessenheide; and a brother-in-law, Ken (Kathy) Caraway of Atwood, IL.
Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Troy United Methodist Church, 407 Edwardsville Road, Troy, IL.
Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Price officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorials are suggested to Troy United Methodist Church or Boy Scout Troop #8038 and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
