Dixie Jean Eason, age 87 of Troy, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

She was born June 10, 1936 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Steve and Imogene (nee Spain) Stark.  She married Floyd Eason on March 27, 1954.

Dixie was a retired bookkeeper.  She taught Sunday School at Friendship Baptist in Caseyville, IL and enjoyed gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Eason; and two sisters, Joyce Carey and Sharon Roberts.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Floyd; three children:  David Eason, Margaret Eason, and Shirley Kirk; eight grandchildren:  Bonnie Rheinhardt, Alyssa Eason, Sarah Halcomb, Elizabeth Burke, Dixie Sweeney, Chandler Eason, Kaleb Eason, and Amanda Carpenter; five great-grandchildren:  Brett Burke, Jalin Gibson, Zachery Gibson, Alex Rheinhardt, and Austin Rheinhardt; three sisters:  Doris Stay, Barbara Clark, and Nancy Riggs; numerous nieces and nephews.

Dixie's wishes were to be cremated, and a graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville, IL.
