Dominic Leo Gramaglia, 65, of Alton, IL, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Born on May 15, 1961, in Cincinnati, OH, Dominic was the beloved son of the late Pasquale and Hazel (nee Bradhold) Gramaglia.
Dominic honorably served his country in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Antarctica in 1982 making him a member of the McMurdo Society, paying honor to the Pioneer Antartic Expedition Leader. Following his military service, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from the University of La Verne at Point Mugu, Ca, and further pursued his passion for the culinary arts by attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
A gifted chef with a dedication to his craft, Dominic enjoyed a distinguished career in the culinary industry. He served as Executive Chef at the former Andrea's in Edwardsville for seven years before spending ten years as Executive Chef at Casino Queen. Later in life, he found fulfillment preparing meals for residents of assisted living communities.
In addition to his parents, Dominic was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony "Tony" Gramaglia.
He is survived by his two daughters, Vanessa (Keith) Siatkowski of Troy, IL, and Sophia (Silas) Beck of Loveland, CO; his son, Lino Gramaglia of Glen Carbon, IL; three brothers, Patrick Gramaglia, Jerry Gramaglia, and Mark Gramaglia; one sister, Gia Taylor; three cherished grandchildren, Kathleen and Vincent Siatkowski and Fisher Beck; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will greatly miss him.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 200 N. Lange, Maryville, IL 62062 with Father Rob Johnson celebrant. A private burial with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Senior Services Plus in Alton or Chestnut Health Systems in Maryville. Memorials may be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
