Donald E. Hadfield, age 93 of Collinsville, IL born October 12, 1922 in East St. Louis, IL passed away at 3:25 a.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Liberty Village Care Center in Maryville, IL.

He was a 1941 Collinsville High School graduate. He retired as an estimator for Ludlow Saylor Wire Cloth Company/General Steel Industries in St. Louis, MO, and worked at the same time at Fairmont Park Racetrack in Collinsville, IL. Don directed a local barber shop chorus, was an adult advisor for TePee, loved singing, and was an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Opal Mary nee O'Dell Hadfield; his wife, Gladys E. nee Lange Hadfield, whom he married October 31, 1943; and three brothers: Ray, Paul and Bob Hadfield.

He is survived by four daughters: Diane (John) Miller of Collinsville, IL; Donna (Carl) Wetzel of Hot Springs Village, AR, Denise (Bill) Thorpe of Collinsville, IL, and Dawn Hadfield of Alhambra, IL; two brothers: Richard Hadfield of Quincy, IL and Leo Delores Hadfield of Montgomery City, MO; a sister, Joyce (Pete) Paulsell of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and his companion, Tillie Hinson of Collinsville, IL.

Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will be at 12pm following the visitation on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Donahue officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.

Memorials may be made to Partners for Pets or the Collinsville Food Pantry, and will be received at the funeral home.
