Doris Jean Young, age 88 of Granite City, IL born July 29, 1928 in Madison, IL passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:35 a.m. at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL.

Doris retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City after many years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eliza Ann nee Langston Reed; her husband, Jerry L. Young; a granddaughter, Melissa Jean Herzing; five brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by a son, Dennis (Nancy) Kramer of Forsyth, MO; two daughters: Linda Herzing of Collinsville, IL and Sandra (Gary Askew) Kramer of French Village, MO; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers: Ted Reed of Festus, MO and Don Reed of FL; and a sister, Marcella Adams of Granite City, IL.

Her wishes were to be cremated and a burial will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research and mailed to the funeral home.
