Obituary

Dorothy Mae Brewster, age 100 of Glen Carbon, IL (formerly Collinsville), peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 26, 1923, in Pueblo, CO to the late Paul and Lena ( nee Williams) Roberts. She went to school and graduated at La Junta High School.  She moved to Vallejo, CA during WW II where she married William Brewster August 31, 1946, and later in 1948 they moved to Collinsville, IL.

Dot had worked at Monsanto Chemical Co for 4 years; the Engineering Supply Depot (US Government) in St. Louis, MO for 6 years; then worked for the Collinsville School District for 16 years in the office of North Jr. High and CHS Counselor's office. She retired in 1985 and traveled with her husband, Bill, in their RV and motorcycle for 18 years and eventually settled in their winter home in a resort in Mesa, AZ.  After Bill passed in 2004, Dot moved back to Illinois in 2009 and had the pleasure to reside at Meridian Village.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lena Roberts of Eldon, MO; and her beloved husband, William Brewster, on March 2, 2004. She had one sister, Virginia Roberts Carroll, who lived in Tacoma, WA, that preceded her as well.

Surviving are her two daughters: Sheryl Nazetta of Edwardsville, IL and Nancy (Bill) Thomas of Maryville, IL; five grandsons: Jerod (nee Lisa McFall) Thomas, Adam (nee Tawny Rodriguez) Thomas, Christopher (nee Lori Benesh) Nazetta, Mark (nee Ellen Holstein) Nazetta, Alex (nee Erin FitzPatrick) Nazetta;11 great grandchildren: Jack Thomas, Jace Thomas, Peyton Rodriguez, Broc Thomas, Asher Thomas, Colten Nazetta, Jett Nazetta, Isabella Nazetta, Vincent Nazetta, Conner Calvert, and Cailey Calvert.

At 100 years young, Dot loved being with her family and they all were her greatest treasure and accomplishment.  They meant everything to her and her greatest joy was being with each and everyone of them always attending every life event they experienced. Dot had a very strong faith and love for the Lord which she had instilled in each of her children and grandsons.  She was a member of Maryville Baptist Church and loved sharing her faith.

She loved entertaining and hosting so many wonderful parties, sewing, and most of all travelling extensively for over 18 years with her husband and the love of her life.

Her love for cards and games was evident when she reached Meridian Village.  She always welcomed newcomers and was published in their Monthly Newsletter as the "Dot's Joke Corner".  She served on many committees there and was active in suggesting activities and fun.   She was known for being the most positive person and Meridian Village used her in many publications for this trait. She leaves many great friends at Meridian, where she shared many wonderful experiences from Water Volleyball to playing cards & dominoes to the comradery around the dinner table.
