Dorothy M. “Toy” Frey, 90, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Evervella of Swansea.

She was born January 5, 1936, in East St. Louis, IL, the only child of the late Arthur Jr. and Dorothy (nee Weber) Cooper. Dorothy married Melvin “Mel” Frey on April 5, 1959, and together they shared 56 years of marriage until his passing on June 4, 2015.

Dorothy graduated from Miss Hickey Business School and went on to work in the probation and parole department of the judicial branch of the federal government. She was a former volunteer with the Anderson Hospital Auxiliary and a former member of the Collinsville Noon Lions Club. Dorothy was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mel, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, William “Billy” Frey.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Stephanie (Nicholas) Luchtefeld; and three great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Connor, and Aubrey Luchtefeld.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Dr. Dale Meyer.

Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, alongside her beloved husband, Mel.
