Obituary

Dorothy Faye Thompson, age 93, formerly of Collinsville, IL, born September 9, 1931, in Success, AR, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Dorothy was a woman of remarkable strength and love. From a young age, she, along with her mother, helped raise and support many family members, a role she carried with her throughout her entire life. As the last of ten siblings, she experienced the heartache of losing each of them but carried their memories deep in her heart.

Professionally, Dorothy was a dedicated inspector at the Continental Can Company for 30 years. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence earned the respect and admiration of everyone who worked with her.

Beyond her career, Dorothy's greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, finding happiness in the simplest gestures - card, a call, or a visit from loved ones. Known for her impeccable taste, she had a deep appreciation for beauty, filling her home and her heart with it.

There are countless stories that speak to Dorothy's warmth and generosity. She was "so much to so many," and those who knew her will always remember her as a woman who gave freely of herself, both in her work and in her love for her family.

She was preceded by her parents: William and Frankie (nee Pippin) Fann; son, Bobby D. Fann; grandson, Bobby G. Fann; five brothers: Lloyd Fann, Maxie Fann, Lehman "Pete" Fann, Wayman "Jack" Fann, and Freeman Fann; four sisters: Eva Thompson, Ruby Skates, Marjorie Layman, and Phena Hovis; and a grandson-in-law, Jason Cawvey.

She is survived by two daughters: Linda (John) Becker of Collinsville, IL, and Tracey Kinnear of Collinsville, IL; daughter-in-law, Bonnie J. Fann of St. Charles, MO; eight grandchildren: Kelly (Chris  Grega) Cawvey, Kendal (Chris) Tierney-Hurst, Jonathon (Stephanie Levy) Becker, Felicia (Donald) Spain, Matthew Fann, Nicholas (Jamie) Fann, Samantha (Jasmin) Bečić, Tiffany (Jack) Gottlieb; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
