Douglas M. Rankin, age 56, of O'Fallon, IL, formerly of Collinsville, IL, born March 16, 1966 in Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Doug worked as a financial advisor for Edward Jones and was also in the banking business for many years. He attended Metro East Lutheran High School and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville with a Marketing degree. He was a member and Elder of Trinity Lutheran Church and announced online services. He was a member of the Collinsville Recreation Club, enjoyed sports, and spending time at Lake Sara in Effingham with his family. Most of all, Doug loved spending time with his family and friends, which included hosting various "food fests."
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Judy Cochran.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Lori (nee Cochran) Rankin, whom he married on April 6, 1991; two sons: Matthew Rankin of Florissant, MO and Will Rankin of O'Fallon, IL; a granddaughter, Lila Brandt; his parents, Duane and Ruth (nee Woehler) Rankin; a brother, Ken (Debbie) Rankin of Bel Air, MD; two sisters: Pam (Dan) Daniels of Collinsville, IL and Denise (Mike) Daniels of Glen Carbon, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 4 to 7pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 Water Street, Edwardsville, IL and from 9 to 10am on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the church.
Funeral service will be at 10am on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the church with Rev. John Shank officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Collinsville.
Memorials are suggested to Metro East Lutheran High School or Trinity Lutheran Church and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
