Estella Herrera Otero, age 91 of Collinsville, IL, born June 1, 1933, in Santiago Papasquiaro Durango, Mexico, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 with family by her side.

Estella and her husband, Raymundo, were the owners of Ramon's El Dorado, a Mexican restaurant that became an institution in the City of Collinsville for over 60 years. Estella was a mainstay at the restaurant, greeting her guests with warmth and an inviting spirit. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville. And she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Estella was preceded in death by her husband, Raymundo, whom she married September 20, 1953; parents, Eduardo Herrera Du'are and Fransisca Rodriguez Palafox; two brothers: Carlos Herrera and Joel Herrera; and two sisters: Alicia Herrera and Socorro Herrera.

Surviving are her three children: Socorro De Carmen (Robert) Rojas, Carlos A. (Michelle) Otero and Raymond E. Otero; six grandchildren: Karina (Juani) Santos, Carlos A. (Emily) Otero II, Ambria Otero, Zachary Otero, Alexzandria Otero, and Gabriella Otero; five great-grandchildren:  Kaden Kimbrel, Coy Mordini, Ellianna Santos, Dominic Santos, and Maya Otero; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Estella's ashes will be laid to rest in her hometown in Mexico, next to her family as were her wishes.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Community Care, the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville or mass intentions at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville. Memorials will be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
