Eula Mae Berry, age 94 of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
Eula was born February 17, 1930 on the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Degognia Township, Jackson County, Illinois, to the late John & Lelia (nee Smith) Choate. She grew up in southern Illinois and was a 1948 graduate of Gorham High School. For the past 57 years, she lived in Collinsville, IL and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Eula married Denzel E. Berry on August 11, 1953 and they enjoyed 57 years together before his death in 2010. She was also preceded in death by seven siblings: Charles, George, Robert, John, Harold, Jack & Ruby Jewel.
Along with caring for her family, Eula assisted Denzel in the daily routine of their State Farm Insurance Agency. She had a knack for decorating, enjoyed working in her yard, loved traveling, especially in her younger days, and was a great travel companion. Eula had an outgoing, adventurous spirit, and her wonder and joy of life never waned. Her love of family was paramount. She loved nothing more than get-togethers and holidays with family and friends. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. The level to which she will be missed is indescribable.
Surviving are her three children: Roy (Teri) Berry of Glen Carbon, IL, Bob (Elisa) Berry of Ocala, FL and Ann (John Rimar) Robertson of Collinsville, IL; three grandchildren: Andrea (Johnnie) Fox, Evan (Kelsey Holt) Berry and Laura (Justin) Frawley; three great-grandchildren: Allison Mae, Stella, and Brianne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
Memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Private burial will be in Buck Road Cemetery, Maryville IL at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Research or Siteman Cancer Center and may be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
