Evelyn Gossett, age 85 of Collinsville, IL, born December 31, 1926 in Houston, TX passed away 11:15 am on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville, IL.

Evelyn was a bookkeeper at Bunny Bread for many years and also at the VFW Post 5691 in Collinsville for 20 years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5691 and was very active in the State Park VFW. Evelyn loved dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Cox Sr. and Vernie nee Brigance Cox ; husband, Ellis B. Gossett, Sr.; son, Ellis "Butch" Gossett Jr.; daughter, Penny Jo Gossett; sisters: Thelma Clanney and Mary "Honey" Temple; and a grandson, Jerry Gossett.

She is survived by her son, Gary Gossett; grandchildren: Tracy Daddinio and Charles Gossett, both of CO; brother, Robert "Buddy" Cox, Jr. of IL, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10am to 1pm Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will be 1pm Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Funkhouser officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
