Obituary

Faye Annette Ross, age 72, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on December 19, 2023, at her home in Collinsville, surrounded by her loving husband, Bob, and her daughters, Robin, and Jennifer. A cancer diagnosis this year was followed by several other health related issues, which she faced with courage, poise, and faith. She is now at peace with our Lord.

Faye was born on March 21, 1951, in Cairo, IL to the late Lyndal and Virginia Jerrell. Her parents moved to Collinsville, where she spent most of her childhood, eventually graduating from Collinsville High School. During her high school days, she met a handsome young man from Belleville, Bob Ross. Faye had dreams of college, but her life took an unexpected turn when, at age 16, she learned that she and Bob would soon be expecting a child. Bob and Faye were soon married and remained so for 56 years – "till death do us part."

Faye spent much of her early adult life as a homemaker, raising her two daughters and discovering many adventures with Bob. Their life took them on many journeys, including moves to Tennessee and Texas, before settling down back in Collinsville. Faye worked several jobs, dabbled in real estate, and worked hand in hand with Bob when they purchased and ran Collinsville Mini Mart and Midtown Liquors in downtown Collinsville.

To know Faye, was to love her. She lived her life with a very strong faith as her foundation. She gave unconditional love to her family and friends. A great listener and was always a source of wise advice without judgement. She was sweet, kind, and could always be found with a smile on her face. She loved the sun, lounging by a pool or enjoying the beach at sunset. She always loved a good cup of coffee in the morning. Faye was an animal lover and spoiled her dogs with love and treats. Sam, Butch, Daisy, Chloe, and Charlie were special to her over the years.

Faye was immensely proud of her five grandchildren (Olivia, Tyson, Macey, Tayler, and Blaine) and four great-grandchildren (Mason, Danni, Liam, and Rainer) and always lit up when talking about them.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Ross, daughters Robin Ross and Jennifer (Brad) Keene, and her sister, Linda (Al) Pflasterer, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a very special aunt, Patty Thornton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyndal and Virginia Jerrell.

As her health declined, she often repeated the quote "If you think you should do it, do it. Don't have any regrets!"

Services will be at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL, on Saturday, January 6, 2023, with a visitation from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Ed Ingram.
