Obituary

Franklin Henry Buettner, age 86 of Collinsville, IL, born July 21, 1933 in Wartburg, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Frank worked for over 40 years as a plasterer, a longtime member of Local 90, before retiring.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a devoted member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville.  He loved to fish, camp, garden, avid modeler, and collected model trains but most of all, he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Conrad and Adele W. nee Schutt Buettner; two brothers:  Clemens and Russell Buettner; three sisters:  Edith Gerber, Eileen Monday, and Georgia Frierdich.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth nee Steffenhag Buettner, whom he married May 17, 1958; two sons:  Tim (Candy) Buettner of Collinsville, IL and Mike (Tracie) Buettner of Collinsville, IL; five grandchildren:  Matt (Lisa) Buettner, Sammi (Derek Harmeier) Buettner, Ryan (Laura) Buettner, Danie (Adam) Kress, and Drew Buettner; three great-grandchildren:  Owen, Ella and Henry; and a brother, Richard (Marlene) Buettner of Waterloo, IL.

Private graveside services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville. IL.  A memorial service will be held at a later date at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Memorials in Frank's honor may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and can be mailed to the funeral home at 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL.
