Fred Erving Yagow, age 74 of Collinsville, IL, born March 11, 1946 in Effingham, IL, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
Fred was a Vietnam Army Veteran. He retired from Boeing after 49 years of service as an aircraft machinist. He and his wife, Sonja, are the owner/operators of Kaleidoscope of Kids in Collinsville. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville. Fred was always pleasant and helpful towards others, a talented handyman, and an animal lover. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Martin and Dorothy (nee Kampschrader) Yagow.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sonja (nee Gowin) Yagow, whom he married December 16, 1967; two daughters, Mary (Thomas) Yagow-Wells of Collinsville and Lisa Yagow of Roselle, IL; three grandchildren, Nathan, Alexander and Benjamin Wells; and a sister, Linda Yagow-Palmer of Bellingham, WA.
Public visitation will be 9 – 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL. Due to the current COVID restrictions, social distancing guidelines will be observed and face masks are required.
Private funeral service will be held with Rev. Kyle Wright officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorials may be made in Fred's honor to Holy Cross Lutheran School or Holy Cross Lutheran Church Sunday School Program and will be received at the funeral home.
