Freda Ann Phillips, age 88 of Maryville, IL, born June 27, 1934 in Alicia, AR went to be with the Lord on the morning of Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at home in Maryville, IL.

On March 16, 1954, Freda married James Phillips.  They lived in France and many places in the United States while James was in the U.S. Army.  Freda's organizational skills and pragmatic nature made her well suited to life as a military spouse.  After James retired from the Army, she helped him create and grow a very successful barber shop business.  They were married for 65 years.

Freda loved her family beyond words.  She was generous, loving and kind.  Most importantly, she sought to serve and honor God with her whole heart.  Her actions were guided by her faith and personal relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Freda will be missed by all who knew her.

Freda was preceded in death by her husband, James Phillips; parents, Sidney and Christina (nee Golden) Steele; two sisters:  Mary Phillips and Glenda Davidson; one brother, Darrell Steele.

She is survived by a son, James Phillips, Jr. of Maryville, IL; a daughter, Donna (Mike) Harper of Glen Carbon, IL; two grandchildren: Joshua Harper and Amanda (Joe) Hornacek; and three great-grandchildren: Malaki, Josiah and Harper Hornacek; and two sisters: Carol (Wayne) Gray of TX and Peggy (Bob) McMillon of AR.
