Geno Chiapelli age 92 of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly of Collinsville, IL, born July 26, 1923 in West Frankfort, IL, passed away at 5:25pm on Friday March 11, 2016 at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL.

Geno was a retired postal worker for many years. He was a longtime member of St. John United Church of Christ in Collinsville, IL. He enjoyed golf, cardinal baseball, and building houses. He was an Army Air Force veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernesto and Pellegrina nee Serafini Chiapelli, a daughter Jeri Lynn Ulkus, and a brother Joe Chiapelli.

He is survived by his wife Doris Lea nee Block Chiapelli whom he married May 1, 1944, a daughter Debbie (Ken) Weil of Edwardsville, IL, two grandchildren; Bethany (Michael) Kutz and Jacob (Ashley) Ulkus, six great grandchildren; Mason, Savannah, and Emerson Kutz, and Parker, Reese, and Blake Ulkus, and numerous nieces.

Memorial visitation will be from 4pm to 5:30pm on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Meridian VillageChapel.

Memorial service will be at 5:30pm on Thursday, March 24, 2016with Rev. Tony Minear officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Glen Ed Food Pantry or the Lutheran Senior Services Benevolent Fund, and will be taken at the memorial service.
