Gerald Ardell Weil, age 82 of Collinsville, IL, born November 19, 1940 in Lebanon, IL, passed away on December 24, 2022 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Gerald had worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a conductor as well as a machine operator for Alco.  He was a car enthusiast and restorer, and enjoyed woodworking.  He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandkids' sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Walter and Hilda Selma (nee Guttersohn) Weil; a daughter, Ronda Weil Van Hook; and a sister, Doris Sturman.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carolyn (nee Kocot) Weil, whom he married July 2, 1966; a son, Tom (Memorie) Weil of Collinsville, IL; five grandchildren: Emma, Anna Grace and Nathan Weil, Casey (Aaron) Brauer, and Jacob Van Hook; two great-grandchildren:  Morgan and Abigail Brauer; and a brother, Marvin Weil of Belleville, IL.

Memorial visitation will be 3 - 5 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. with Father Michael Haag officiating.  Private burial will be in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Vincent DePaul and will be received at the funeral home.
