Howard Britton Keene, age 78 of Collinsville, IL, born June 19, 1942 in Du Quoin, IL, peacefully passed away at his residence on Friday, May 21, 2021 surrounded by family.

Howard loved the game of basketball.  It was a big part of his life playing in high school, college and even while he was in the United States Army. After graduating high school, Howard attended Louisiana State University for three years before being drafted by the Army, where he served during Vietnam from 1964 to 1966. After being honorably discharged, he enrolled and graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Howard retired in 2008 from Rawlings Sporting Goods Company as Vice President.  His 34 years of service were fulfilling having also served as past President and Chief Operating Officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Frankie (nee Britton) Keene; and two brothers, Russ and Chuck Keene.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra (nee Milano) Keene, whom he married May 30, 1966; two sons, Scott (Brigitte) Keene of St. Peters, MO and Richard (Sara) Keene of The Woodlands, TX; four grandchildren, R.J., Nick, Sophia and Howie; two sisters-in-law, Jane and Karla Keene; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the American Legion Post #365, 1022 Vandalia, Collinsville, IL from 2 – 6 p.m. in the Oak Room.
