It is with great sadness that the family of James Edward (Jim) Hillery announces his passing at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the age of 70. Jim was born on May 3, 1949, in Bloomington, IL and was living in Maryville, IL.
Jim retired in 2011 from Beverly Farm Adult Care as a project/transportation manager, wrapping up a long career focused on healthcare and information technology. He was an Air Force Veteran. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, spoiling his grandchildren and swapping stories at family barbeques.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Marion and Mary (nee Giles) Hillery.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (nee Gehrin) Hillery, whom he married January 22, 1983; son Jason Hillery of Godfrey, IL; daughter Melissa (Nick) Walden of Glen Carbon, IL; son Matthew Hillery of Granite City, IL; four grandchildren: Alexa and Erin Hillery, Ethan and Charlie Walden; and a sister, Janet (Hillis) Kauffman of Battle Creek, MI.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home at 2800 N Center Street (Hwy. 159) in Maryville, IL from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life service. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jim's name to All Paws Rescue of O'Fallon, MO or Make a Wish Missouri & Kansas. Memorials may be received at or mailed to the funeral home.
