Jeanette C. Crone, age 98, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Eden Village Care Center.
Born on January 18, 1927, in East St. Louis, IL, Jeanette was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Jessie (née McMillian) Bennett. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Admiral "Bud" Crone; sisters, Norma (Ed) Peters and Dorothy Russo; son Billy Williamson; Grandson Michael (Crone) Keane,
Jeanette worked for many years as a dedicated clerk at the Federal Reserve Bank before retiring. She was known for her warm heart, sharp mind, her deep love for family and her ability to speak her mind without reserve. A passionate genealogist, she enjoyed tracing family roots and preserving their history. She also found joy in cross stitch, knitting and crocheting, often gifting her handmade creations to her loved ones. She enjoyed food as well. She and her husband took great pleasure in a home garden. They would often make wonderful dishes with their harvests and share canned goods with friends and family. Her happiest moments were those spent celebrating birthdays, holidays and simply being together with her family.
She is survived by her loving grandson, Gary (Kathy) Crone; stepson, Larry (Sharon) Crone; granddaughter Carissa (Don) Re; Grandson Chad (Emma) Crone; and Nieces Amy (Don) Peters and Robyn (Gene) Wilberg. Along with all her great grandchildren; Bailey and Kyle Crone, Addison, Colton and Gage Re, Braden and Reese Crone. And her great nieces and nephews; McKenzie and Bennett Grzina, Eric, Emily and Anne Wilberg. And she leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories.
No public service will be held. A private burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
Memorial donations may be made in Jeanette's honor to the American Cancer Society and will be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
