Jerome "Dick" F. Korte, age 92 of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born October 10, 1931 in Damiansville, IL to the late Bernard and Mary (nee Toennies) Korte. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. Dick married Clara Kapp on September 25, 1957 at St. Dominic's Church in Breese, IL and she survives.
Dick worked at General Steel then retired from Louisiana Dock as a certified welder, and was a member of Boilermakers Local 482. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, and the American Legion Post 252 in Breese. He enjoyed camping in the summer and spending the winter months in Florida and Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Keith Korte; 11 siblings: Marie Rolves, Alvina Luitjohan, Sister Florence Korte, ASC, Alice Luitjohan, Sister Mary Judith Korte, ASC, George Korte, Joe Korte, Ferdinand Korte, Edmund Korte, Raymond Korte, and Cyril "Pete" Korte; in-laws: Louis Rolves, Francis Luitjohan, John Luitjohan, Agnes Korte, Veronica Korte and Carol Korte.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Clara Korte; four children: Barb (Alan) Lenny, Ron (Donna) Korte, Debbie (Kevin) Slattery, and David (Chris) Korte; 11 grandchildren: Kelly Welch, Kaitlyn Holderman, Jason Lenny, Eric Lenny, Kristen Weppner, Kyle Slattery, Ryan Slattery, Graham Korte, Alyssa Cookson, Audrey Pieper and Jake Pieper; 8+ great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jane Korte; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 207 Vandalia, Collinsville, IL.
Memorial mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Michael Haag celebrant. A luncheon will be provided at the church following the mass. Private inurnment will be in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church or School and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
