John Wade Blasingame, 83 of Glen Carbon IL, formerly Collinsville IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Oliver Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

John was born on April 17, 1939 in Monette, AR, the son of the late James and Jewell (nee Cornish) Blasingame.

John graduated Monette High School with a basketball scholarship to Arkansas University.  He played Center for the Razorback's varsity squad beginning his sophomore year. John joined the Army ROTC program at Arkansas.  After graduation, he served in the Army as a 1 ^st Lieutenant, paratrooper.

After the Army, John began his career in sales with a seed company then worked for Illinois Power. John became a realtor and establishing his own real estate company, Star Realtors.  He retired from the real estate industry after 40 plus years.

John was baptized at the Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church in Monette Arkansas.  He became a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Granite City in 1972. After moving back to Illinois from the Lake of the Ozarks, he became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville.

Early on, John was an avid golfer and golf tournament spectator. He loved playing golf with his sons, grandsons, and friends, including family outings to golf tournaments. He enjoyed water skiing and boating. John's favorite activity was attending his sons' and grandchildren's school activities, recitals, concerts, sporting events, and spending time with family.

John married the late Shirley (nee Woessner) Blasingame and then married the late Carolyn (nee Bunselmeyer) Blasingame.

Surviving are John's children: Jeffrey (Terri) Blasingame of Collinsville, IL, James (Bonnie) Blasingame of Collinsville, IL, John E. "Jeb" (Ginger) Blasingame of Collinsville, IL, Lee C. Harlan IV of St. Louis, MO, Robert K. Harlan of Camdenton, MO; grandchildren: Joshua Blasingame, Jacob (Kailey) Blasingame, Benton (Kristen) Blasingame, Jared Blasingame, Cade Blasingame, Brooke Blasingame, Jordan Blasingame, Brooks Poltl, Tanner Poltl, Lindsay (Ryan) Leverett; great-grandchildren: Marie Blasingame, Olivia Leverett, Gracie Leverett, and Tristan Hall; Sister: Lei Lani Mangrum of Trumann, AR. Nephew: Michael Mangrum of Monett, AR, and many cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, IL.  The Celebration of Life service for John will follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Michael Walther officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
