John Gary Bowers, age 75 of Worden, IL, born April 9, 1942 in Litchfield, IL passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Faith Countryside Nursing Home in Highland, IL.

John was a retired steel worker after 35 years of service with Granite City Steel. He was a member of the Granite City Elks Club, and loved his canine friend, J.T.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Mary nee Portugal Bowers; and a son: Andrew Bowers.

He is survived by his wife: Deborah nee DeWerff Bowers, whom he married June 1, 1968; two sons: Brien (Tonia) Bowers of Worden, IL and Joe (Heather) Bowers of Alton, IL; three grandchildren: Braden, Brienna and Kylie; and two brothers: Earl (Nancy) Bowers of Gillespie, IL and Chuck Bowers of Springfield, IL.

His wishes were to be cremated, and private burial will be held at a later date.
