John D. Kelley, 87, of Collinsville, IL, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 5, 1938, in St. Louis, MO, to the late James B. and Mae Emily (nee Bradshaw) Kelley. A proud graduate of Collinsville High School, Class of 1956, John went on to earn his master's degree in engineering from Washington University. He honorably served in the United States Army Reserves and later retired as an engineer from the federal government.

John married the love of his life, Nancy Muzzarelli, on September 17, 1960. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. He enjoyed an active lifestyle, often spending his time playing tennis, biking, and gardening.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Nancy Kelley; two children, David Kelley and Kimberly (Darell) Scott; three grandchildren, Kelly Scott, Darrell Scott III, and Amber (Alex Dow) Scott; one great-grandchild, Scotlyn George; and a brother, Joe Kelley. He was preceded in death by his half-sister, Phylis Hooks.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Collinsville, officiated by Father Rob Johnson.
