Obituary

John Joseph “Jack” Quatto, 94, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, in his hometown, surrounded by his family.

Born April 13, 1932, in Collinsville, he was the son of the late John F. Quatto and Jennie (Ubaudi) Quatto. A lifelong resident, Jack attended Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and its grade school and graduated from Collinsville High School in 1950.

He served honorably in the United States Army in the 1950s, stationed in Germany, where he traveled throughout Europe and visited his family’s ancestral home near Turin, Italy.

After his service, Jack built a career as a Union Carpenter and later became an award-winning Project Superintendent with Korte Construction. He oversaw major projects nationwide, including multiple Walgreens distribution centers and United States Postal Service facilities. His craftsmanship, leadership, and work ethic earned widespread respect.

One of his proudest achievements was building the family home with help from his cousins, uncle, and friends where he and his family and friends created memories, with help from cousins and friends. He also enjoyed time at his winter home in Henderson, NV, where he liked visiting the casinos and playing the slot machines.

Jack loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing at his farm near Mulberry Grove, IL, where he shared many memories with family and friends. He was known for his determination, generosity, and sense of humor in all aspects of life.

He shared 60 years of marriage with his wife, Barbara Ann (Evans) Quatto. Their marriage was filled with love, and devotion, forming a lasting family legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Quatto and Jennie (Ubaudi) Quatto.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann; his son, John Victor Quatto and wife Carrie; his daughter, Cathy Ann Mollet and husband Alan; his sister, Jeanne Montague; his brother Frank Quatto and his cherished grandchildren, Christine, Brad and Conner, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Jack will be remembered for his warmth, quick wit, humor, strong work ethic, and deep devotion to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose greatest pride was his family.
